Glo has taken the lead to bring 4G mobile technology to the people of Nigeria; a technology that offers more capacity, higher bandwidth and greater speeds than the 3G technology. Depending on the deployment mode, network technology adopted and operating frequency chosen, LTE technology offers download speeds from 5mbps up to 100mbps.
If you want to enjoy the world class experience of the Glo 4G LTE network, you must :
- be in Glo 4G LTE location
- have a 4G LTE phone or tablet that supports the Glo LTE band 28/frequency
- have an LTE 4G Glo SIM and
- subscribe to minimum N1000 Glo LTE data plan.
For Globacom Nigeria, 4G LTE service is currently deployed in Warri, Benin-city, Zaria, Yola, Eket, Port-Harcourt, Lagos, Abuja and Jos. More cities will be added in due course.
How to get the Glo 4G LTE
Step 1: Get a LTE Sim from any Gloworld, Glozone and dealer outlet nationwide.
Step 2: Get a LTE Handset or Device from Open market or Gloworld.
Step 3: Buy your 4G-LTE data plan.
If you have a 4G LTE phone and you are in a location covered by Glo 4G network, you can go to any gloworld or glozone shop to buy Glo LTE SIM if you don’t have a Glo SIM. Register the SIM according to NCC requirements, activate the glo line, subscribe to a Glo LTE data bundle and you’re good to go! Alternatively, you can port from MTN, Etisalat, Airtel to Glo to enjoy the 4G service. The port-in process can be done at the nearest Glo office.
If you already have a Glo SIM, all you just need to do is to walk in to nearest glo retail outlet (Gloworld, Glozones) to upgrade your Glo SIM to 4G LTE SIM. If you pass theGlo SIM replacement authentication, your exisitng SIM will be replaced with an LTE SIM.
The Glo 4G SIM doesn’t look different from the current SIMs. Just the labeling that is different to indicate that it’s 4GLTE. Price of Glo 4G LTE SIM is N100.
To subscribe to Glo 4G LTE data plan, dial *777# , select 1 for 4G-LTE data services and follow the prompt. Once you exhaust your 4g LTE data plan, you will not be charged from your call credit because there is no PAYU (Pay As You Use) on LTE. So, you will have to re-subscribe to new LTE plan.
If your phone does not support the Glo LTE band 28/frequency, you might not get the 4G/LTE service on the phone even though the phone supports 4G/LTE. So, check online or your phone manual to be sure.
If a LTE subscriber is browsing on 4G and moved to a location of 3G coverage , the data session will continue on 3G . If the subscriber move to 2G coverage, the data session will continue of 2G. Later if the subscriber moves to 4G coverage, the session will continue on 4G. So, it’s highly recommended to set your 4G LTE device to ‘LTE (or 4G) preferred’ or ‘LTE/4G/3G/2G auto connect’(depending on how it is worded on your device).
If you are unable to make or receive calls, check airtime balance or recharge while on 4G network, ensure the network mode on the phone is NOT set to 4G only.
